Progressive Insurance Bhd, originally incorporated as Sri Bumi Sdn Bhd in Sarawak on June 8, 1974, rebranded and became Progressive Insurance Sdn Bhd on December 17, 1975, expanding its operations across Malaysia, including Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak. In 1982, the company strategically relocated its headquarters to Kuala Lumpur to enhance client service.
The financial equity of the company was notably enhanced when Permodalan Bumiputra Sabah Berhad and the Sabah State Government became major shareholders from 1987 to 1989. Subsequently, on May 30, 1997, Progressive Insurance Sdn Bhd transitioned into a public company, rebranding itself as Progressive Insurance Bhd.
